Instaview.me and Instaphp

instaview.me

Instaview.me is a side project I started for fun. It’s all CakePHP and Instaphp (which is another personal project of mine). It’s a way for people to view Instagram photos and interact with other IG’ers on the web.

Local.com

Local.com

Local.com is a local search engine which connects millions of users with local businesses. It’s built on .NET 3.5 and C# and serves roughly 90 million unique visitor per month. The same underlying framework also powers 1000+ network sites such as The Orange County Register, The L.A. Times and The Washington Post

LocalConnect Admin

Local Connect Admin

LocalConnect Admin is a web application used by business owners and partners to manage business listings. It was written in PHP5 using CakePHP. It was mostly developed by an outside vendor, but I was brought in later in the development to help finish the project. I spent the better part of six months finishing features and fixing outstanding issues. It currently runs under IIS6 as a FastCGI process using the ISAPI Rewrite

Lendicom

lendicom.com

Lendicom is a commercial lending site which aims to connect commercial lenders with potential borrowers. It matches lenders with borrowers using a proprietary matching algorithm. Site was developed in PHP5 and MySQL and uses modx for content management and custom built application forms built by yours truly. This site took more than a year to develop and was one of the best learning experiences I’ve had in terms of project management. Long story…

MyRide (Java)

MyRide.com

This is the original MyRide website. It was the failed attempt to convert one business model into another at a time when the economy started to tighten it’s belt. The technology itself was fairly decent and should have been fairly scalable. It was written in Java/JSP using the Spring Framework. The content was managed by Vignette’s VCM (which I thought was the Achilles’ heal of the entire site) and was served up by WebLogic and SQL Server 2005. I had my hand in almost all parts of this site from the HTML/JSP front-end to the Java/Spring middle tier and even into the fiery depths of hell of the VCM.

Autobytel, Inc

Autobytel was my first real “corporate” job after college. I started in 2003 as a web developer and quickly grew into a full blown code monkey. Except for the two-year detour on MyRide, all of the Autobytel family of websites are driven by Coldfusion and SQL Server. Thus, the majority of my time there was spent on Coldfusion. However, there were some .NET applications and services that needed to written and/or maintained. Autobytel is good people and I mis them all.

HID Global

HID Global provides secure identity solutions for businesses. If you use a proximity card to get into your work or parking garage, chances are it is from HID. They were going through a process of consolidating products from multiple websites to the one you see today. I helped migrate some Coldfusion and ASP code to PHP.

Paitients Guide

I consulted briefly with Patient’s Guide. “A family of 25 niche web publications, each dedicated to a specific condition or treatment.” The site was architected by a former colleague in .NET 4.0 and Microsoft’s MVC framework. My desire to move to the Pacific Northwest prevented me from spending a lot of time consulting for them and maintaining my current job.

“Other”

There’s probably a handful of sites that I’ve either consulted on or helped a friend with. Not to mention all the personal sites I’ve toyed with over the years. For instance, my Flickr Commons Chrome App (which I never fully completed but still works… for the most part).

There’s also this handy tool which tells you if the domain you want is currently taken…
